Malaysia Airlines subsidiary MASwings has ordered six Viking Air Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.
The aircraft is scheduled for delivery between 2013 and 2014, and will be used on regional commuter operations out of Kota Kinabalu, in the eastern state of Sabah, says Viking Air.
The agreement includes flight and maintenance training, and a spares support package.
MASwings had previously told Flightglobal Pro that the order will replace its de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet.
It added that the fleet renewal would allow the airline to raise frequencies on existing routes, and provide medical evacuation charter when required.
In addition, MASwings is also scheduled to receive part of its parent Malaysia Airlines' order for 36 ATR 72-600 turboprops.
Data from Flightglobal Pro shows that MASwings operates 10 ATR 72-500s and three DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft.
