Melbourne airport passenger numbers up 6% in August

Melbourne airport reported a 6.4% year-on-year increase in its August passenger numbers to 2.6 million.
The airport's international passenger numbers grew by 14% to 635,000 for the month, compared with the same period a year earlier.
Passengers from Malaysia led international passenger growth at the airport, with a 40% increase year on year.
The airport also saw growth in the number of passengers of other nationalities, with passengers from Singapore increasing by 30%, Indonesia by 21%, Thailand by 20% and China by 19%.
Domestic passenger numbers also rose 4.2% year on year to 1.97 million.
