Meridiana Fly-Air Italy is to increase its operations this winter at Catania airport in Sicily, capitalising on the August collapse of Catania-based rival Wind Jet.

The airline will operate five daily services to Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino and increase frequencies on to Turin, Verona, Bologna and Naples to twice daily.

Meridiana will offer 220 flights per week from Catania.
