Meridiana Fly posts €34m loss for 2009

Newly-merged Italian carrier Meridiana Fly has confirmed a doubling of its full-year net loss, to €34 million ($44 million), over 2009.

The airline's revenues dropped by more than 21% to €290 million during the year.

Losses before interest and tax increased to €29.8 million.

Meridiana Fly confirmed the figures at a shareholders' meeting, which also sealed the appointment of Massimo Chieli as the airline's new chief executive.
