Merpati Maintenance Facility (MMF), the maintenance, repair and overhaul arm of Indonesia's Merpati Nusantara Airlines, has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The certificate was received after completing some works to its facility that was audited by EASA, says Merpati's vice-president corporate secretary and legal affairs Herry Saptanto in a statement.

MMF is the second maintenance company in Indonesia to obtain the certification from EASA, says Saptanto.

In addition, the airline has also obtained a design organisation approval (DOA) certification from Indonesia's directorate general for civil aviation.

The DOA certification will allow the company to manufacture, alter and modify aircraft components, says Saptanto.

This will complement the company's maintenance and training businesses, he adds.
