Phoenix-based regional Mesa Airlines confirms that it will add six Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets to its fleet with American Airlines.

“They will be entering service between August and November,” says Mesa.

Mesa and American have signed an eight-year contract to cover the six additional aircraft, which Mesa is buying from Alitalia.

“We are delighted to add these six CRJ900 aircraft with our partners at American Airlines,” says Jonathan Ornstein, Mesa's chairman and chief executive. “With almost 40 aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next several years, Mesa is now the fastest growing airline in the country providing exciting opportunities and long-term job security for our people.”
