US regional carrier Mesa Air Group has won a contract to operate United Airlines' new Embraer 175s that will be delivered from 2014.
The carrier has also extended an agreement to operate 20 existing Bombardier CRJ700s for United until 2019.
Mesa will hire about 300 pilots, 300 flight attendants and 200 maintenance and other support staff to support the new E-175s.
United ordered the 30 E-175s, along with 40 options, in late April. Deliveries will occur in 2014 and 2015.
"Mesa began operating under the United Express banner in 1992, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to expand our longstanding partnership," says Mesa's chairman and chief executive Jonathan Ornstein.
Mesa Air Group's subsidiary Mesa Airlines operates more than 425 daily departures for United Express and US Airways Express.
