New Oneworld Alliance member Mexicana Airlines has secured rights from US regulators to launch flights from Puerto Vallarta to Chicago.

The Mexican carrier applied for route rights earlier this month, and told regulators it desired to launch service on 1 December using Airbus A319 or A320 narrowbody aircraft.

Schedules in the Innovata database show that currently Mexicana's fellow Oneworld member American Airlines offers seven weekly nonstop flights between the two destinations, while United Airlines and USA3000 each offer single weekly flight on Saturdays.
