Japan's Mitsubishi Aircraft is opening an overseas sales office to serve the Americas, which is forecast to be the largest market for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) currently in development.
Mitsubishi Aircraft says in a statement it is opening on 1 November a sales office in Addison, in the US state of Texas. Addison is a northern suburb of Dallas.
The company's VP of sales and marketing, Kentaro Taki, will be president of this office, it says.
"The objective of the new regional sales base is to give Mitsubishi Aircraft a presence in the world's largest regional jet market," says Mitsubishi Aircraft, adding that the office will function as a sales base for North, South and Central America.
It says the Americas is projected to be Mitsubishi Aircraft's largest market for the MRJ.
The MRJ is a 70- and 90-seat regional jet aircraft which Mitsubishi Aircraft is developing for service entry in 2013. Japan's All Nippon Airways became launch customer earlier this year.
