Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) deputy group chief executive Mohammed Rashdan bin Mohd Yusof has resigned from his position at the carrier.

The airline attributed his resignation to "personal reasons", said MAS in a Kuala Lumpur stock exchange statement.

Prior to his resignation, he was instrumental in formulating strategies for MAS current business plan, and spearheaded a team on a fund raising plan to raise M$9 billion ($2.83 billion).

MAS have yet to name his replacement. Rashdan will leave the airline on 30 June.
