Monarch Airlines has taken delivery of a new Airbus A321 aircraft under an operating lease agreement with Aviation Capital Group, Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows.
The aircraft (MSN 5582) is the first of two A321s from the lessor. The second aircraft (MSN 5606) is scheduled to join Monarch's fleet later this month, according to Ascend.
The carrier added two new A320s from CIT Leasing in March and April this year.
Last November, Monarch announced plans to increase the size of its fleet from 2015 onwards. The UK carrier has invited manufacturers to submit proposals, as Monarch envisages an order for a total of more than 45 replacement and expansion aircraft scheduled for delivery through 2021.
