UK leisure carrier Monarch Airlines has based two Airbus A320 aircraft at Leeds Bradford airport in the north of the country on the back of improvements at the Yorkshire site.

A new terminal was opened at the airport late last year and Monarch has taken advantage of the updated facilities, launching two new routes to Munich and Grenoble in December.

In summer 2013 it will serve a further 12 holiday destinations from Leeds Bradford, including airports in Turkey, Italy, Cyprus and Portugal. The Munich route will also continue in the summer season, it says.
