Mongolian privately-owned carrier Eznis Airways has opened its first international service.
On 1 June the airline began operating scheduled flights twice a week from its Ulaanbaatar base to the Russian city of Ulan Ude.
The service, which uses Saab 340 turboprops, provides an alternative to a 12-hour journey by bus and rail.
Vice-president for sales and marketing Spiro Deligiannis says Eznis will add a third frequency pending sufficient passenger traffic on the route.
Eznis, which has three leased Saab 340s, is considering increasing its turboprop capacity on its domestic network of a dozen destinations.
