Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) launch customer All Nippon Airways (ANA) plans to sign the contract for its order of up to 25 MRJs later this month or next month.
The carrier will purchase 15 MRJs in a firm order at the catalog price of ¥69.2 billion ($758 million), says ANA after the purchase was approved at a directors' meeting today.
ANA said two years ago that it planned to order 15 MRJs, with 10 options.
The 15 aircraft will be delivered from early 2014 to early 2018, says an ANA spokeswoman.
"We hope to sign the contract in the coming weeks, it could be later this month or next month," she adds.
The purchase will not have an impact on ANA's forecasted earnings, says the airline, which expects to post a net income of ¥5 billion for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2011.
"The company is carrying out the purchase of aircraft associated with this project in accordance with its fleet strategy of enhancing economy by improving fuel efficiency and updating its aircraft to competitive, state-of-the-art models," says ANA.
