Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Aerospace is to co-operate with Rockwell Collins for Boeing 787 component maintenance .
A contract it has signed with the US manufacturer will give Mubadala's two MRO providers - Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) and Zürich-based SR Technics - access to Rockwell Collins' international warehouses and repair shops.
The strategic partnership should provide ADAT and SR Technics with "seamless global availability" of Rockwell Collins equipment installed on the long-haul twinjet, says Mubadala.
Rockwell Collins supplies the flightdeck displays, crew alerting system, pilot controls, communication and surveillance systems, and common data network for the Dreamliner.
The agreement will generate savings through economies of scale for both the manufacturer and MRO group, predicts Thierry Tosi, vice-president and general manager of Rockwell Collins' service solutions division.
