NetJets has unveiled its first Bombardier Global 6000 business jet featuring its new bespoke interior called the Signature Series. The ultra long-range aircraft will be handed over to world's largest business aircraft operator and fractional ownership company next month - the first of three Global 6000 deliveries destined for NetJets this year. "Two aircraft are sold out and the third is almost sold," says NetJets chief executive Jordan Hansell. "We hope to have about 10 Global 6000 and 5000s in our fleet by the end of next year [out of a total firm order for 30 of the types]. These aircraft will only be available for our fractional customers initially, but as the fleet gets larger we will offer the aircraft as part of the [charter] jet card program," Hansell adds.
The Globals are part of two industry record-breaking orders that NetJets has placed with the Canadian airframer over the past 20 months. The deals has a combined value of nearly $14 billion and include 120 Signature Series Global 5000/6000/7000/8000s and 225 Challenger 300 and 605s.
Hansell says NetJets plans to add up to 670 new aircraft with a total value of $17.6 billion over the next decade as part of its top to tail overhaul of its fleet.
The Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary will share the new aircraft among its US and European ventures, which operate a combined portfolio of more than 716 business jets for its 7,000-strong customer base.
NetJets' Signature Series interior features include advanced in-flight entertainment and a custom cabin design including specially selected fabrics and materials, customised seating, lighting and storage.
