Argyle, Texas-based Aviation Modifications Leaders is showing off two new routers at NBAA that they say will increase in-flight SwiftBroadband internet speeds by 200-300%. The company has partnered with Denmark-based airtime provider Satcom1 (booth 1891) to offer connectivity for the units.
The routers do not require a supplemental type certification (STC) to operate inflight, says Mark Lange, president and founder of Aviation Modifications Leaders. Instead, business jet operators can take the "plug and play" units with them and use them in their offices.
The OOM-100 and -200 routers achieve the faster speeds through compressing the data moving from the satellite to the aircraft. The OOM-100 is a smaller form factor, while the OOM-200 offers ports for multiple channels and VOiP compatibility for mobile phone services.
