Boeing 737-200 operated by Nigerian carrier ADC Airlines crashed today soon
after takeoff from Abuja
in the center of the country.
aircraft reportedly burst into flames upon crashing into a field about 2mi (about
3km) from the airport. Six people, one critically injured, are reported to have
survived the incident; about 95 other people are reportedly dead.
official statement has been issued by the airline or Nigeria’s
transport ministry, and neither was available for comment.
local reports say the crash occurred during bad weather. The flight was
reportedly en route to Sokoto in the north of Nigeria.
