Surveillance video recordings showing the departure of the ill-fated Spanair Boeing MD-82 from Madrid show no evidence of an engine fire, Spanish media are reporting.
The video images, captured by surveillance cameras around Barajas Airport, are said to have been viewed by Spanish Government officials.
Spanish media, citing officials who have seen the footage, claim that it contradicts earlier widespread suggestions - immediately after the 20 August accident - that one of the engines of the aircraft was on fire during the take-off roll.
The short section of footage reportedly also indicates that the aircraft briefly became airborne, reaching a height of around 200ft (60m), before descending and striking the ground.
Little information has been officially released about the 20 August accident which killed 153 of the 172 passengers and crew on the Las Palmas-bound aircraft.
Neither Spanair nor the country's accident investigation authority has publicly commented on the content of the video.
