As Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines work through their merger, long-time partners Northwest and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will expand their codeshare agreement.

KLM will carry the Northwest code between Calgary, Canada and Amsterdam starting in roughly a month, the carriers tell the US DOT.

The two airlines began their alliance in 1989 with 104 weekly flights and set up a joint venture in 1997. They joined in SkyTeam grouping in 2004.
