Budget carrier Norwegian saw its passenger numbers for July increase by 21% year-over-year to almost 1.6 million.

Load factor increased by four percentage points to 89.2%, despite a 23% growth in capacity over the past year.

Declaring the company "very satisfied" with the continued growth in traffic, Norwegian chief executive Bjorn Kjos noted that the increased passenger numbers and load factor "proves that the 18 brand-new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with higher capacity delivered over the past year are paying off".

Expansion had come both on existing and new routes, said the company.
