Fast-growing Scandinvian low-cost carrier Norwegian increased passenger traffic almost a fifth in February.

Passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, grew 19% compared to the same month in 2012. As it lifted load factor 19% as well, the carrier's load factor remained virtually unchanged at 78.3%. Norwegian's unit revenues increased 2% over the same month last year.

The Scandinavian carrier increased passenger numbers 9% to 1.25 million. The higher increasae in RPKs in part reflected a 10% increase in stage lengths compared to February 2012.

The traffic increase over last year would have been even higher but for the distorting impact of there being one less day in February this year because 2012 was a leap year.
