Low-cost carrier Norwegian will take delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 in April next year as it prepares to begin its first long-haul services.
Norwegian has just begun selling tickets for its long-haul flights to New York and Bangkok from Oslo and Stockholm.
It will begin Oslo-New York services on 30 May, Stockholm flights to the US city the following day. Both flights will initially operate twice weekly, before a third frequency is added later in June along with flights to Bangkok.
The carrier takes delivery of its second 787 in June and a third in November. Norwegian will take delivery of an additional four aircraft in 2014 and one in 2015.
The budget carrier signed various 12-year lease agreements with International Lease Financial (ILFC) covering a total of five 787s. Norwegian also has three aircraft of the type on firm order with Boeing.
