The Associated Press is reporting the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating an air traffic controller asleep at Washington National on 22 March while two aircraft were trying to land.

The Associated Press story cites a source stating the controller was a supervisor. According to the story pilots of the aircraft were unable to reach the tower, so they opted to communicate with a regional air traffic facility in Virginia.
