Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been dispatched to assist Canadian officials in the investigation of a runway excursion involving an Embraer ERJ-145 operated by US regional carrier Trans States Airlines.

NTSB says at 14:30EST the aircraft - N847HK - operating as United Express overran runway 25 while landing at Ottawa International airport. The flight originated at Washington Dulles International airport.

Preliminary reports indicate there were several injures among the 33 passengers and three crewmembers onboard, the board states.

The NTSB team, which includes technical advisors from the FAA, is scheduled to arrive in Ottawa the morning of 17 June.
