Middle Eastern carrier Oman Air has introduced its first Airbus A330 aircraft, deploying it on the London Heathrow route from its Muscat base.

The carrier is bringing in A330s as part of a fleet renewal and will take delivery of a second on 17 May, to be used on the Bangkok route.

"This is a product upgrade that our passengers have been requesting and we have introduced these as an initial step before we take delivery of our brand new widebody fleet," says chief commercial officer Barry Brown.

Its A330s feature flat-bed seats and "comprehensive" in-flight entertainment with personal screens.

Delivery of the new aircraft will begin in August.
