Connectivity provider OnAir has chosen France's Aeroconseil to provide the engineering and certification work on a contract to equip Singapore Airlines' Boeing 777s with onboard GSM and Wi-Fi technology.

The two partners will begin fitting 19 777s in the next few months, says OnAir.

SIA said last year it will roll out in-flight connectivity on its aircraft from the first half of 2011 after signing a deal with OnAir. It will introduce the service progressively on flights operated on its Airbus A380, Airbus A340-500 and 777-300ER aircraft.

"OnAir is delighted to work with Aeroconseil, which has an established reputation in the design and certification of inflight connectivity STCs," says OnAir's CEO Ian Dawkins.
