TUI Travel has completed financing of its first batch of Boeing 787-8s with the sale and leaseback transaction of the final aircraft with operating lessor Orix Aviation.

The operating lessor, which confirms the transaction, acquired the 787-8 (MSN 36424) on 16 August. The aircraft will be operated by UK-based subsidiary Thomson Airways.

The 787 transaction is in response to a request for proposals for financing issued by TUI Travel in 2012.

Thomson Airways received its first two 787-8 aircraft from Boeing in May. Both aircraft were acquired by operating lessor BBAM under sale and leaseback transactions.

A third 787 was mandated to MC Aviation Partners under a sale and leaseback transaction in June.
