Start-up carrier People Express will begin flights between Newport News/Williamsburg International airport and Orlando International airport on 16 October, the airline announces.

Orlando will be the ninth destination of the low-fare carrier, which is operated by Vision Airlines.

Vision began service under the People Express brand on 30 June with flights from its Newport News hub to Newark, Boston and Pittsburgh.

People Express has since added flights to West Palm Beach and Atlanta, and will begin flying to New Orleans on 28 August and to St. Petersburg in Florida on 29 August, the company says.

People Express' fleet includes three 737-400s.
