Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) has launched multi-crew pilot's licence (MPL) core skills training using a fleet of newly-registered EFIS Cessna 182 aircraft.

The aircraft will be used to develop OAA's MPL cadet programme, which will train 30 MPL cadets for EasyJet by 2013 and an as yet unspecified number of cadets for Flybe by 2014.

EasyJet's cadets are now entering the MPL core phase of flight training using the first two EFIS Cessna 182s, which are fully equipped with latest generation Garmin 1000 EFIS avionics.

Today's launch also marks the start of an overall OAA EFIS fleet upgrade programme planned for the next two years.

Under the programme, a further 23 multi-engine aircraft and 25 single-engine aircraft will be located throughout the three OAA ab initio training centres of Oxford, Phoenix Goodyear and Melbourne.
