The Panamanian parliament has approved and modified a government resolution from late 2012
about financing expansion projects at Panama City's Tocumen International Airport, increasing
the margin to issue debt by $100 million, to $650 million.
The resolution allows the airport to raise finance, including the emission of bonds in local and international markets to expand its terminal and cargo facilities, buy additional land for future growth and improve its financial structure.
The debt emission will be placed in yet-to-be-defined financial markets in July.
Panama is a major continental hub airport, which, strategically located between North and South America, positions itself as "the hub of the Americas". It is home to Star Alliance carrier Copa Airlines.
