Air France Industries KLM Engineering and Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) is to provide wet lease specialist Air Atlanta Icelandic with General Electric CF6-80C2 thrust reverser maintenance.
Its aero structures staff will carry out checks on the thrust reversers before developing a removal programme for off-wing repairs, said the MRO. Air Atlanta Icelandic operates a fleet of 20 passenger and cargo aircraft, including some Boeing 747-400s powered by GE CF6 engines.
In addition to fan thrust reverser (FTR) repair, Air Atlanta Icelandic will also receive engineering support and training from AFI KLM E&M.
The extent of the AFI KLM E&M network, which includes a Middle East presence via its Dubai-based AMES, a joint venture set up by AFI KLM E&M and Aircelle Safran Group, affirmed the customer's decision. The short distance between Dubai and Jeddah, where the Air Atlanta Icelandic's aircraft are based, is an appreciable benefit for the customer in the event AOG assistance should be required, said the MRO.
