BOC Aviation has chosen CFM International engines for part of an Airbus A320 order it announced in December 2012.

The Singapore-based lessor has ordered Leap-1A engines for 10 A320neos and CFM56-5B powerplants for another 10 current-generation A320s. In December, it placed an order for 50 A320-family aircraft, evenly split between A320neos and the current-generation A320. The CFM engines are the first powerplants the lessor has assigned to the A320 order.

BOC's current-generation A320s will be delivered from 2014 to 2016, and the A320neos from 2017 to 2019. Chief executive Robert Martin says the majority of the current-generation A320-family order will be A320s while the remaining will be A321s. As for the A320neo-family aircraft, the lessor is likely to split them evenly between the A320neo and A321neo, says Martin.
