Kuwaiti low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways has selected the CFM International CFM56-5B engines to power four Airbus A320s.

Delivery of the engines will occur between 2012 and 2014. The engine order is valued at $80 million at list prices.

Jazeera Airways' new engines will feature the CFM56-5B performance improvement package (PIP) configuration. The engine, which will become the new production standard, is on schedule for certification and entry into service by the end of this year.

The package provides a 0.5% improvement in fuel burn, includes hardware changes to the core, introduces new high-pressure turbine blades, and features manufacturing changes to the fan and compressor blades and vanes.
