Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) is leaving the door open for additional aircraft orders as the Danish leasing company expects to operate a 300-aircraft fleet by the second part of the decade.
The lessor, which placed an order today for 90 ATR -600s, including 35 firm orders (30 ATR 72-600s and five ATR 42-600s), 35 options and 20 purchase rights, says it has now more than 200 aircraft in its portfolio.
"When we placed our first ATR -600 orders two years ago at the Paris air show, our fleet grew to 100 aircraft. This order will make us pass the 200th mark," says NAC's chairman Martin Møller.
"We are targeting a 300-aircraft fleet by 2016/17 and we have some impending orders to reach that target."
The first of the 35 ATR 72-600 aircraft will start delivering this fall, says Møller, and deliveries will stretch through 2020.
With the arrival of 30 firm ATR 72-600s and five ATR 42-600s into its fleet, NAC's ATR portfolio will exceed 150 aircraft by 2016.
