Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines has chosen the CFM International Leap-1A to power up to 100 Airbus A320neo-family twinjets.
Pegasus signed for 75 firm aircraft - comprising 58 A320neo and 17 A321neo jets - towards the end of last year, and placed options on 25 more.
CFM says the Leap-1A has been picked for all the firmed an optioned aircraft. Deliveries are due to start in 2016.
Pegasus already has more than 40 Boeing 737s, all of which are exclusively fitted with CFM56 engines.
"We chose the Leap-1A engine after an exhaustive technical evaluation," says Pegasus chief Sentac Haybat. "We have been extremely impressed with the level of technology they are bringing to this new engine.
"The fuel efficiency, environmental characteristics, and cost of ownership make it the right engine for our fleet."
