Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines is to launch flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen airport to the Hungarian capital Budapest in July

Pegasus will launch four weekly flights on the route from 16 July using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The airline will compete with central European carrier Wizz Air on the route, while Turkish Airlines flies to Budapest from Istanbul's Ataturk airport.

“There were some key cities missing from the Pegasus Airlines route map - Budapest was one of them, but we have worked really hard to make sure we were chosen ahead of our competitors," says the airport's chief commercial officer Kim Jandu. "With this carrier’s great record of sustaining routes we have no doubt that this new service will play a considerable role in growing the important Budapest-Istanbul market."
