Australia's Regional Express subsidiary Pel-Air Aviation has won a contract to provide support to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for three years.

Under the agreement, which is worth Australian dollars (A$) 47 million ($45.9 million), the carrier will provide jet aircraft services to support ADF training.

The the last contract with the Commonwealth of Australia for the provision of the support services expired on 30 June, after which Pel-Air continued to provide the services under an interim arrangement, the carrier said.

"We believe that our track record will stand us in good stead for the other major ADF project-JP66, which Pel-Air tendered for," Pel-Air's COO Danny Foster said.
