Porter traffic up 21.4% in August

Canadian carrier Porter Airlines posted 21.4% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic in August.

Capacity increased 12% as the load factor grew 5.8 percentage points to 74.5% during the period.

"This is the best month we've had in nearly six years of operating," says Robert Deluce, president and chief executive of Porter.

Porter carried more than 260,000 passengers in August, which is the highest in their history, says the carrier.

Through the first eight months of 2012, traffic rose 26%, capacity grew 18.3% and the load factor increased by 3.8 percentage points to 62.9% compared to 2011.
