PowerJet to build 52 Superjet engines this year

Franco-Russian engine manufacturer PowerJet is aiming to produce 52 powerplants for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 this year.

Since serial production of the SaM146 started, it says, it has built 64 engines and 39 had been transferred to operational service by the beginning of June.

The engine production rate is being determined "according to the needs of the customer", the manufacturer says.

PowerJet, formed through a tie-up between Snecma and the Russian firm NPO Saturn, adds that the SaM146 has logged 43,647h operating time with despatch reliability of 99.89%.
