Profitable Air Austral takes delivery of two new 777s

Air Austral has taken delivery of two new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for use on Paris-Reunion services, with the first aircraft starting operations on 8 May and the second on 28 May.

The carrier has also released 2008-2009 results showing a 6% rise in turnover to €280 million ($392 million) and a net result before tax of €12.8 million, up from €12.5 million the previous year.

Air Austral, which is due to take delivery of two Airbus A380 aircraft configured with 840 all-economy seating in 2014, says its overall load factor was 83%. It has 34% of the Paris-Reunion market.
