Lessor Doric Lease, the customer which signed a tentative deal for 20 Airbus A380s last year, is to be rebranded as Amedeo.
The new name is derived from the Picco Luigi Amedeo mountain in Italy, part of a ridge in the vicinity of Mont Blanc.
It marks a further distancing from the Doric name for the new lessor. Doric Group's brand remains unchanged.
Amedeo chief Mark Lapidus says the name, which is also derived from the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, reflects "creative spirit and innovative approach".
The company has yet to firm up the agreement for the A380s but Airbus previously indicated that the order could be finalised in the first quarter of this year.
Amedeo has not clarified when it plans to cement the deal but says it will "continue focusing on the widebody leasing sector", acting as a principal investor for acquisitions and sale-and-leaseback transactions.
