Italian companies are set to acquire a "large number" of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin has told a regional conference.
The conference focused on the strategy for socio-economic development of Russia's far eastern region to 2020.
Sukhoi manufacturers the Superjet at its Komsomolsk-on-Amur plant. Putin says the attention is "no longer about prototypes but valuable serial production".
He says Russian president Dmitri Medvedev recently showed the aircraft to Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi in Sochi.
"Italian partners are already prepared to acquire a sufficiently large number," Putin told the conference, adding that it would amount to a "promotion" of the type in Europe.
