Qantas Airways is launching two new weekly services linking the Western Australian town of Karratha to Melbourne and Sydney.

The weekly Melbourne-Karratha service starts on 3 May and the weekly Sydney-Karratha service also starts in early May but the launch date has yet to be set, says a Qantas spokeswoman.

Both services will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft, she says.

No airlines presently operate on these two routes, says Innovata. But Qantas already has a weekly service from Brisbane to Karratha, which is a destination for people needing to reach mines near Karratha.
