Australia’s Qantas Airways plans to expand service to New York this summer.

Qantas currently operates five weekly flights between New York JFK and Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport using Boeing 747-400s.

The airline says it will increase the frequency of those flights to daily starting from August 14.

Qantas will face increasing competition in the USA next year, as Australia’s Virgin Blue plans to launch long-haul services to the country using Boeing 777s.
