Qantas has applied to Australia's International Air Services Commission seeking approval for Emirates to codeshare on its services to New Zealand.

The Oneworld carrier says that, in accordance with its alliance with Emirates, it is seeking variations to previous determinations that will allow the two carriers to provide joint services, including the ability to jointly market or share revenue and profit on their New Zealand services.

Qantas and Emirates entered a major international alliance in April this year after receiving clearance from Australia's competition regulator. The two airlines also received clearance to co-operate on their trans-Tasman services from New Zealand's ministry of transport in May.
