Air France and Lufthansa Technik's spare parts and maintenance joint venture Spairliners has secured a contract with Australia's Qantas Airways to supply and repair components for the airline's Airbus A380 fleet.
"The technical services agreement with the world's second largest A380 customer [Qantas Airways] calls for repair and replacement of around 750 components held in readiness" at Spairliners' warehouse, Spairliners says in a statement.
The 10-year contract covers all 20 A380s Qantas has ordered, it adds.
Qantas executive general manager of engineering David Cox says in the statement that the airline looked outside its organisation for help because its A380 fleet is medium-sized and it was confident Spairliners would be reliable.
Spairliners is a joint venture between Air France and Lufthansa Technik.
