Qatar Airways becomes second-largest Cargolux shareholder

Qatar Airways has completed its acquisition of a 35% share of Luxembourg-based freight carrier Cargolux, after securing approval by regulatory authorities.

Cargolux has confirmed the closing of the transaction.

It means Qatar Airways becomes the second-largest shareholder in the carrier, which specialises in Boeing 747-400 freighter services and which will shortly take delivery of its first 747-8 freighter.

Luxair is the largest stakeholder, with 43.4%, while financial firms BCEE and SNCI have 10.9% and 10.7% respectively.
