Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker has confirmed that the airline is examining taking a stake in Czech Airlines, but he dismisses suggestions that a decision could be imminent.
"We have looked at them but the rumours that Qatar Airways is about to conclude a deal with them are not true," he says. "People have always used Qatar Airways as bait to create interest."
Al Baker is also coy about the Gulf carrier's decision to withdraw its 35% stake in Cargolux. "They have been making statements - negative statements - but I will not make any comment other than that we have decided to move away and look at other opportunities," he says.
"That [experience at Cargolux] will not put us off looking elsewhere."
