Qatar Airways is to begin services from its Doha hub to Venice on 15 June.
The carrier will operate daily service on the route using Airbus A320s in a 12 business-class, 132 economy seat configuration.
In Italy. the airline already serves Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa.
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker notes that much of Italy's international airline traffic focuses on those two cities and that opening up the Venice route "is very much in line with our long-term strategy of tapping into economically viable, under-served markets".
Venice has little long-haul access, making it an attractive prospect for the carrier, he adds.
